We are barely holding it together ourselves. I am sorry to read about the discrimination others face, but this is not new. Have you read about the “re-education camps” in China for Uhgur peoples?

I haven’t but I will look it up.
ETA: I looked it up omg. Wtf I’m going to read more later
I know. I was thinking we can’t even protect ourselves right now but my heart is breaking for these people.

I think right now we have our plates full and need to get this country back up and running. This is the problem too with this country, they find the need to help everyone before our own.

Re: guangzhou China & African people
That’s horrifying. China keeps saying they are opening up more and more, then they blame the second wave to be from foreigners.
China has not addressed their wet market policies. I guess I see this as a distraction from the real issue. The stopped it after the first SARS outbreak and then changed the laws when things got back to normal. China announced that you can no longer buy dogs and cats for meat at these markets now. I’ve always been ok with other countries eating animals we do not think to wat (dogs and cats), but the situation with wet markets are completely unsanitary.
I fear most for Africa right now. They have no means to deal with this at all. But Africa has always been a very emotional and meaningful place for me.
Society is going to start to break down soon.

Welcome to a communist country. They have no rights and anyone that is not a citizen should have gotten out months ago. We have been to Guangzhou twice for a few weeks each time and if you are not Asian, specifically Chinese, you are always treated differently.

Nothing shocks me with China. They are horrible to their citizens. When I was in law school I worked with people trying to get asylum here and the stories were horrific

I just want to add that refugees are being kicked out of their residences. I have a close Iranian friend, a Kurd. He was totally kicked out of the camp and told to leave. Luckily he had someone to stay with. But, yeah, you get the point. I'm horrified; maybe I care about others more.
