Camp
Are your kids signed up for camp? What's the plan? I don't think much is going to change between now and end of June. My boys are both signed up and we prepaid in February for a discounted price. Now we don't know what to do

Camp
I'm in the same boat. If camps are allowed to open, then I guess I'll send my daughter. If not, then I'm hoping I'll get a refund. So far, we only put the deposit down.
But, the IRS may need to change the rules regarding the flexible spending accounts for day care. We are using a Flexible Spending Account through my husband's job to pay for camp. If we don't end up using the camp, I hope we don't lose the money!

You can suspend deductions for the flex spending since this is a qualifying event (I did since my funds were going to be used mainly for camp as well).
I'm thinking most camps will be cancelled for the summer. There may be some that serve more for the purpose of daycare for those who need it.
ETA - There has been no guidance given at this point to camps/pools etc (I'm a member of my local pool board) so no decision is been made.

Re: Camp
I've been waiting to check out a new camp, but obviously they aren't doing tours right now. I'm not going to sign up without going and seeing everything. I don't even know if they will open this summer. I guess I just have to wait and see. I hate not having a plan

Re: Camp
I am praying by the end of June things will be open. My son gets a summer program through his IEP and I'm praying it runs because he NEEDS to go back to school/routine. He is having a difficult time. I signed my daughter up for camp and if I am back in the office by then, then she will attend if it is open.

Re: Camp
I was on a conference call last night about sleep away camp with the owner/director. For NJ, no decisions are being made on a statewide level until early June. I am not sure what to do. I have my kids signed up for a travel camp for part of the summer, and sleep away camp for another part. I am not sure what we are going to to.

Camp
We paid our deposit, but got an email that they are not accepting further payments right now (paid in full was supposed to be by April 30th)- they have extended that (no new date given though) and said they will communicate with us 1st week of May. I'm hoping this will calm down at some point in the summer and she can go for part of it-- but doubting that will actually happen. I also have to look into our Flexspending- we use that for camp too- maybe I will pause it.

I really hope that camp is open. My son needs some kind of structure.

Camp
We're supposed to be moving in July and went back and forth between whether she should go to camp on LI or where we move. We decided to keep her at the camp her pre-k runs, which I'm hoping will not only be open but will be more pre-k and less camp (it's mostly the same kids from the school year).

Camp
I’m torn...I don’t know how comfortable I am sending my kids to camp, but my child care is my parents and I don’t want to put them at risk. Maybe I’ll look into a summer nanny.

Camp
I already paid for a camp in July, but I don’t think I’d be comfortable sending her if this still going on and it’s open. I hope I can get a refund.

Re: Camp
My kids will be devastated if Camp is cancelled. We didn't pay yet and the owner says they still plan to open if legally allowed. Sadly, after today's latest Cuomo chat, I don't see that happening this year.
