Life after Corona
To kind of change the topic and maybe to get an idea of how life will be after this pandemic, I have read a few interesting articles about how life will change.

It’s kind of long and may interest those who like architecture.
This one is about how life is resuming in Wuhan:

Someone brought up the use of elevators and how they will feel nervous using them. This article mentions that elevators are not being used in Wuhan.
If the West reopens under these conditions, I would feel much better. I’m curious to see how Wuhan will look in a few weeks’ time.
ETA: I mean I wouldn’t feel much better because I don’t want to live in a controlled state like that, but I would feel safer, if that makes any sense.

I didn't read it yet but the elevator thing.
In NYC you can't function without elevators.
Almost every office building is a skyscraper
I work on the 46th floor in NYC.
How would that work?

How would that work?
Are you working remotely now? I get the feeling a lot of work will be done remotely and office days will be staggered for those who have the capability to work from home. No more packed elevators, maybe 3 people at most allowed. Just a speculation.

My point is, even with staggered work schedules the building has 60 floors. There are thousands of occupants. And you can't say no elevators like in Wuhan. People can't walk up 60 floors.
NYC is a whole other animal compared to Wuhan

Yeah, it is different, but there are high rises in China as well. I wonder what they will do.

Exactly. Think about Penn Station alone. Just getting in and out of there is beyond packed. Even with a staggered schedule forget it. You can't avoid a lot of people. Not in NYC

This is true also. I think they are going to have lines for the elevators and it will be very annoying for a while.

They have to go out for food.

They are, but if people are only going out for food, the evleators are liekly less crowded, and hopefully people are wearing masks now.

They are, but if people are only going out for food, the evleators are liekly less crowded, and hopefully people are wearing masks now.
Well I would imagine masks will have to continue as we reopen. Especially on elevators.
You can't just say no elevators- people aren't walking up 50 floors

Life after Corona
My FIL lives on the top floor of a high rise building now. The building only allows one household in the elevator at a time. Everyone wears masks and gloves. It’s not ideal but there isn’t any other option.

This is how they plan to bring us back into work but our office building has a lot of other businesses so I assume the building will be monitoring elevators.
