Would you go?

We have a camping trip booked for July 3rd-July 11th. Campsite is in Connecticut- which is aiming for the 2nd phase of reopening by June 20th. they have already met 2 of the goals for first phase (decline in hospitalizations and positive cases).
It's a resort campground- we rent a trailer there. there are group activities & things we can do separately as a family. There are pools too.
DH is confident we should go. I really want to, but have reservations about going.

1- the group activities- are they safe? Will they even them? If they don't have them- what are we going to do all day? LOL
2- we usually drive to RI to hit the beach, will that be open? Again, if not- what will we do all day?
3- it's not your typical camping in the woods, there aren't places to hike, etc. If we go and need to social distance- we're in an uncomfortably tiny space without out our home comforts and how is that a fun vacation?
4- I wonder if the pools will be open and if they are- are they safe?
I just feel like too many variables and I know we have time, but if it's open and allowing us to go, we need to make the decision on cancelling sooner rather than later.

Re: Would you go?

yes but the biggest question is will they let you in???

I thought I heard in PA if you are only from NYC you will have to self quarantine or other states doing this if so when does that stop?

There are a lot of maybes in this post. Pools MAY be open. Will the beach be open?. Group activities?

Most of what you go there for is up in the air. And like we’ve said before, it’s not like the government is going to give a date and magically all covid Will Disappear. So the question really is, if all of these amenities are open, will you feel comfortable doing them?

Personally, I wouldn’t. I can see gtg with friends with distance to hang out and BS w drink in the yard - no crazy risk there. But pools, group Activities w strangers ? Not so much

that's my whole point- If it is open- am I going to feel comfortable? I don't think so. I don't think there is going to be a day anytime soon that I will safe out there with strangers. Ughhh, it's been the one thing we were looking forward to this year. I know there are so many who have it worse, but we've lost a few friends, others are still sick, my DH is working endless hours in a hospital while I'm home with DD- working like crazy and remote learning (which is so hard, she's dyslexic and needs to much help) and this has been our little ray of sunshine on the horizon. I guess I will just wait and see for now.

Re: Would you go?

You’re going to get Hell No to Hell Yes! Depending on how people are with this crisis and it’s really not going to help you.

It seems like you are not comfortable and won’t be for awhile, so then you shouldn’t go. Its about your comfort level and if you will feel much better not going. You should have to take into consideration your family as well. So the best thing is to openly discuss with your spouse and make a decision based on that conversation whether you should go. There is also time to make a decision.

Me personally, I’m planning an extended trip down south to leave for the summer maybe even the fall. So I would 100% go. Right now for me, I’m not living and this isn’t working for me and I know it won’t be good for my son. I have to start thinking about myself and my family. It may sound selfish, but I tried it their way.

I would go. My family has spent enough time at home, it’d not be ok with me to continue staying home during the summer.

Same. If something is open, I'd be there

I would reach out to the campsite and see if they have an idea what their plans are.

If they are still going to have fun activities - I'd say go for it!

I would go. Bring bikes and ride them, have campfires, spend time as a family. Don't do group stuff if you aren't comfy. It's been said that Covid can't survive in chlorinated water, so I wouldn't worry about swimming to be honest. Beaches in CT and RI are opening from what I read (along with a lot of other stuff there). Anything is better than sitting in your house IMO. Many campgrounds are open right now upstate, in CT and a couple here on LI (no State run parks) and allow non resident's. The only places I've seen that aren't allowing non resident's is NH and Maine thus far.

But, I'm not afraid of living life in the Summer. So it all goes back to YOUR comfort level.
