I am very happy for this hard working man to have such support. Such a disgrace what they did to his bar and his town.

That is wonderful. Maybe all these celebrities who are donating money to the protesters bail and giving money only to Floyds family should think about giving to these business owners. They can not get insurance for looting.

I’m glad for him and for his family. Their story stuck with me. I’m happy to see it also touched so many others as well.

This is not true. There is a portion of most commercial property policies that would cover it.

Well the man who they collected for was getting nothing from his insurance company, or so that is what I read. Maybe larger companies are covered more. ?

Re: Sports Bar in Minneapolis

I keep hearing that insurance won't cover the looting. Maybe it was an optional coverage that some businesses didn't opt for? I would have assumed insurance covers that type of thing no matter what. Or I would think it could be covered under theft (because isn't that technically what it is?). I guess not though. I read that Saks has boarded up the windows and is paying 150k for private guards to prevent looters from entering the store.

Yes I saw that at Saks. The guards all had dogs too.
They also wrapped the perimeter in razor wire. They don't mess around at Saks. Chat Icon

My friends brother does construction and builds the showrooms for saks. They asked him his opinion on what would keep people from breaking in and he said “people usually won’t mess with razor wire”
And they did this and added the security.

When it comes to insurance... it’s something I want to ask Allstate about because I can see this falling into a category that is not listed under current coverage. Kind of like how a lot of places were giving issues reimbursing lost prepaid services due to covid - there’s no clause for “global pandemic”. There will be now.

Plus has anyone ever tried to get money from insurance? It’s like pulling teeth on the regular. I could imagine now, during a pandemic when $ is tight everywhere

There are so many more GOOD people in the world than bad. I have to hold on to that though.
