Not to be rude, but you are really trying to pin this on the media?
Yes, they can exaggerate stories and run with rumors but usually those exist for a reason.
You do realize that in less than his full 4 year term, well over 400 staff members were fired or resigned... and as of last week Trump’s “A Team” turnover is 88%.
I mean it's absolutely unheard of and absurd.
I think we all see the common denominator there and it's NOT the media.

Now all I've heard is Trump saying that Fauci has been wrong, which he HAS been, and that Fauci is not all knowing. Yes, Trump is a incredibly thin skinned and I'm sure he hates that Fauci has better poll numbers than him. That being said, I do not expect him to completely cut the guy off. Besides which, Trump can't "fire" him. But that won't stop the media from alluding to it.

I say the following with respect, because I do respect him, but he has been wrong in his predictions and conflicting about his advice.
In early January, he stated that coronavirus wouldn't become a major threat, then reversed course. He initially minimized the risk of asymptomatic carriers, then reversed course.
He had initially recommended against using masks (admitted later it was to to save PPE for healthcare workers), and then reversed course. Yes, there is a lot to be said about admitting errors, but he has been wrong before. He is shockingly human.

I think saying it wouldn't become a major threat in January was wishful thinking and wrong as well. I don't think the administration was paying enough attention to global matters and focused solely on what was happening in America (to which the American healthcare system was fairly unaware of this new virus). They didn't understand the extent of asymptomatic carriers - also yes, a big mistake. Doctors in Germany were warning people of this. I think Fauci would have definitely recommended masks. I blame that entirely on the government - they did not have PPE for medical professionals, they could not provide masks to all of us citizens and so they did not want us to be stocking up on them as the government wanted them for themselves and the medical field. Also Trump has be adamant about not wanting to be seen in a mask, refusing to let his staff wear a mask, didn't want anyone to be in a mask until it was deemed that his staff was now getting it and he was threatened by the virus himself. That has nothing to do with Fauci in my opinion, he is employed by his boss and still has to follow suit.

Its absolutely disgusting that in the midst of a pandemic the administration is going out of their way to discredit one of the top disease experts in the country.
Why not spend the time actually dealing with the massive outbreaks across the country? The president only cares about how things look - he doesn't give one crap about one single person that has passed away. He doesn't care about working families and what they might have to do in the fall. He is such a complete narcissist - Fauci dared speak the truth that things aren't great now - so they must attack him.
Its petty and people are going to die.

Why are we surprised? Doctors and scientists invent medicines and vaccines-conspiracy theorists try to terrorize people out of using them. Health policy leaders set policy in certain states, and harassment and death threats force them to resign. Doctors recommend social distancing, mask wearing, delaying reopenings, and...well...we showed them; didn't we?
Why not vilify Fauci? Sure, science and innovation involve learning curves and course correction, and his credentials, training, and experience probably make him one of our best voices overall to listen to....but, hey. Being smug, blaming him for all that doesn't pan out as hoped, and throwing tantrums over what we largely did to ourselves is way easier for those who discredit him-Right?

I don't care that so much that he was wrong, I just care about the way it's presented. They tell us their "facts" and every month it changes. Those aren't facts, it's their opinions that they are presenting as fact. So you can't blame people for being mad that he was wrong, and you can't blame people for not believing every single thing he says now.
I think there is a real problem with the way information was brought to us. Live news conferences where they rush through the information. They don't show how they came to the conclusions they've come to, they just quickly tell us how it is and that we better comply. They allow reporters to quickly asks questions and rush through the answer, which more often than not it would become a political pissing match, in a forum that should have nothing to do with politics. I know the common way of thinking is that there is more transparency when they do things live, but I think the public would have benefited more from pre-recorded presentations that explain everything without interruption from reporters and without it becoming political.
