Waiting for quote/estimate?
How long have u waited for a quote? Long story short, someone came to my house for a possible renovation. As we chatted, they took measurements and brainstormed ideas.. left off that I’d be getting a quote/estimate via email. Here we are a week later and nothing. I’m wondering if they’re trying to wait me out so that I reach out and they can jack up the price or if they aren’t interested. I’m not sure if I should email or leave it alone. I’m wondering if I should use someone else at this point.
How long have u waited for a quote/estimate? Did you have to follow up?

Re: Waiting for quote/estimate?
One week. If I have to come after you for a quote, I don’t want you to do work for me.

Re: Waiting for quote/estimate?
About a week depending on the size of the job

Waiting for quote/estimate?
No more than a week. Had one guy come, spent about an hour here, took measurements, all that and despite me reaching out, never provided an estimate. I’m guessing he didn’t want the job for whatever reason. All the rest were several days to no more than a week.

You should call to follow-up. There are plenty of contractors who won't bother to write up a quote unless you call them.

Re: Waiting for quote/estimate?
I remember going thru that BS.
We had about 6 companies come to the house. Quote in 2 days; quote within a week, blah blah blah.
I called/texted these guys several times. Every time it was a song and dance. No, not ready yet or yeah, I will send it right over. NOTHING! We couldn't understand it.
The last guy we found; gave us the quote the same day he came to look at the house. That is the guy we used/hired.

Waiting for quote/estimate?
We usually follow up after a week but that’s it. If they don’t give a quote after that, we’re done. It’s very annoying.

You should call to follow-up. There are plenty of contractors who won't bother to write up a quote unless you call them. frankly, that is terrible business sense. If I have called you, and you have come out. Then I want the quote. If I have to chase you, you are not worth it. It is like dating, they should want to come after me, not the other way around.

This. I shouldn't have to chase a business down if they want my hard earned money.
We had pavers installed recently and I called about 10 different stone/masonry companies for quotes (including the beloved Fernando/Paver Dr) and only 3 took more than a week to get back to me, so they got crossed off my list. The guys I eventually hired were the ones who gave me a quote the same day.
