Has your district set a date by which they plan to return to full time? If not, do you forsee it happening before January?

All we know is we are definitely hybrid until the end of November. Why November and not after the holidays is unknown, but nothing they've done has made any sense so far.

I can say with almost absolute certainty that they won't even entertain full in person this school year.

October 1. They brought back Special needs students in person today. They were waiting on higher rated filters. They came in this week. They are also waiting on some sanitizer stations. They only received part of the order.

i dont expect anything anymore.

They may reevaluate and do full in person but that means the kids will have to wear masks right now they dont have too.

According to them the survey results said most parents did not want kids to wear masks all day so thats why we are hybrid. there was mention that they may reevaluate come October I dont know if that means they will resurvey parents and see what they say about masks then make the decisions.

honestly i really rather them not wear masks all day but i also would like them in school full time

I am no fan of her wearing a mask all day but trust me when I say I would send her to school in a full hazmat suit rather than have any remote learning at all and especially hybrid which to me is even worse than full time remote
(We are full time in person with masks all day)

Does your school have desk barriers? Our barriers allow for a lot of mask free time which is great.

We are hybrid grades 3-12 with no end date. Even though elementary is k-4 they only have space for k-2 to go "full time" which is currently 4 days a week.

We don't have desk barriers but desks are 6 ft apart and kids have to wear masks all day, except for mask breaks.

We are remote this week, the hybrid starts on Monday so I'm not sure how it will go yet.

They didn't set a specific date, all they have said is that they will closely monitor the data week to week and once it's safe and/or further restrictions have been lifted they will reassess and adjust the school day accordingly.

Right now, PreK through 1st gets to be in school for four half days instead of two, they are trying to get the 2nd grade on that schedule because they feel it's very important for the primary kids to be in school as much as possible. I'm hoping that change happens soon, my 2nd grader will definitely be much better off with less remote learning. Fingers crossed.

I know in my district a lot parents weren't crazy about the mask wearing but the kids seem to be fine with it so far. My son said at first he felt like it was hard to breathe and then he forgot about it. He's in first grade. It's masks or no full time school.

Edit: Plexiglass barriers at each desk too. I personally feel more comfortable with masks on.

K-5 will be starting 5 full days on Sept. 21. They wanted to ease everyone in the first two weeks.

I gave my daughter one of those mask brackets to wear inside the mask and it does make a huge difference in feeling less suffocated in the mask all day.

We are hybrid, with masks full time (well i think they can have it pulled down at their desk and totally off for lunch). I would prefer on at all times in class IMO. They claim in November they will be reevaluating for full time school but I don't seem them actually doing it. I think in November it will either be transitioning to full remote if numbers go up or stay hybrid if it's low and the model is working.

Do these attach to the mask?
I just picture my kids having it drop to the floor everytime they remove the mask and then sticking it right back next to their face Chat Icon

LOL I know. They don't attach they sit inside the mask. My DD is in 5th so she is a little better with handling it although this morning she told me it droped on the floor when she went to take a drink from her water bottle. But luckily she was aware enough to not use it for the rest of the day after that. Chat Icon I sanitize it each night when she gets home.
It's probably better for older kids though I would guess or for use when you are around like in a store or something.

those sound interesting. My son is in first grade so I feel like he just needs to do what he is told sometimes lol. Plus we tried some different masks. He's a big kid and some of the kids masks didn't fit him well. We ended up liking the ones from the Gap the best. All the kids and staff are wearing masks so no big deal for him. He said they got 2 or 3 mask breaks plus no masks for lunch and snack, and recess. And gym too. I sent in a plastic bag for him to put the mask in during those time.

dont want quote everyone but no right now there are no barriers and I dont think they have plans on getting them.

I think they said it was too much money and they felt it was a waste but I could 100% be wrong on this statement.

I would send them still if they had to wear masks all day if that meant that they can go 5 days a week!!! My kids would most likely not care I personally just dont think esp. my younger one wont be messing with and touching his face constantly so it worries me that way and not because I dont think he will get covid more that he would get another sickness

but right now they do have to wear them when not seated so I guess they are touching their face anyway lol

My son would’ve looked around and then put that sh!t right back on his face. He’s a slob with no awareness of how hygiene works. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

For those with hybrid learning (K-6)....

Our district said the plan that is in place goes through the first semester, and they will reevaluate at that time. There are ongoing discussions of course, but all the parents had to opt into all virtual or the in-school plan for the semester.
