Kid friendships
Any ideas on how to help your child make friends? We recently moved and DD doesn’t know anyone (neither do we). She just started kindergarten and it’s apparent that most of the other kids in the class already know each other. I didn’t think she’d be the new kid on the block in kindergarten yet here we are. She said no one talks to her, which I don’t doubt (the parents are very cliquey). I put her in dance class, which she loved on LI but doesn’t seem too thrilled with here (again, all the kids know each other). She doesn’t want to go to school and keeps saying no one likes her. She went to full time pre-k, nursery school and daycare so this isn’t her first time in a school setting.
I went to the same school from nursery through eight grade and am still best friends with my childhood bff. I’m out of my element here. Any tips? I feel terrible.

Re: Kid friendships
Can you enlist the help of the teacher? In kindergarten our teachers work specifically to try to buddy up kids and look out for kids - when they are 5 it is easier to influence them than when they are older.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this - it's really hard.

Kid friendships
I think it’s still early They haven’t had a lot of time to acclimate to a new setting and naturally, Kids will look too familiar faces And the fact that they have to keep distance and classes are smasher aren’t going to help Is she riding a bus? Any kids in the neighborhood? My daughter has her friend in class and she said they really don’t see each other Give her some more time Try acting out scenarios to get her to make the first move She might be waiting for someone to talk to her and she might have to do it instead
It’s hard to see them having a hard time
