It was wonderful to have a normal Halloween. Handed out candy like every other year and had more kids than usual. Parents were ok with kids picking from bowl or handing to them.
 funny because my neighborhood most of the neighbors left tables at the end of the driveways for kids to get their candy.
Only 2 houses actually opened their doors.
Well I didn’t go around TOTing but just know from my neighbors around me they all handed out like normal.

Superior? Lol, no. I just found it wonderful that others made Halloween as normal as they could for their kids.

Same here! The trick or treat tables made it so easy! No kids crowding themselves on steps, hoping a little one doesn’t fall down, no hoping the dog doesn’t escape or bark incessantly... just easy!!! And fun!
This was my experience, too. We left a table out with candy and took the kids only to houses where people left items outside. I figured we'd have to walk a bunch of blocks to get a few pieces. I would say 80% left bowls/tables outside. Some waved from their doors, some had signs on their doors that they were not participating. I thought it was great, just hope the numbers don't go up in 2 weeks. It is SO much better with my kids in school. (Not to mention keeping people alive and not overwhelming our health care workers.) It is REALLY hard to make decisions and find the right balance.

I have to agree! One house had made the "candy chute" with a mailing tube out their window. It was great! The kids thought it was awesome. Otherwise, they went up and grabbed a bag out of candy bowls or tables. We left bowls with bagged candy on the stoop. I also had a separate bowl of allergy friendly treats- mostly little toys, tattoos, etc. We made 100 candy bags and had about 35 bags of allergy friendly goodies and when we got home there was ONE bag left. We also didn't do MUCH trick or treating because it was cold and the houses that left candy out were a little sparse, so we did a "ghost hunt". I wrapped a piece of candy or a little toy (tattoos, a halloween ring, etc.- stuff I had gotten for the allergy friendly bags anyway) in white tissue paper and tied shut with ribbon. I drew faces on them with a sharpie marker and my DH hid them around the house while I had taken DD to dance class. When we got home she had to do an easter egg hunt style search for them around the house. She LOVED it. It was a great Halloween in spite of Covid.

Exactly. All the people who are essentials who never stopped working and never got sick. They only have a chance to get sick on their day off on a holiday?
These people who ARE getting a positive test after get togethers are NOT being hospitalized nor dying. They are getting a bad cold. All fear mongering that just makes you shake your head.

We didn't get too many kids. DD and my nephew were outside with a bowl of candy and handed them out to the 5 or so groups that came.

All these were supposed to bring huge spikes.
None of them did.
Sure, there may have been isolated spikes due to a large house party or something for each of the above, but they were all contained and didn't affect the overall numbers.
We must be doing something right

Or that it is not as contagious as they originally thought and people who good immune systems are not getting sick.
