if he is ousted..
he will never be able to run again
he will lose all benefits
he will lose secret service post WH tenure
and to send a strong message that this can and will never happen again.

It will happen, IMO. It just depends on when. Worst case would be he is impeached after he leaves, to ensure he will never be able to run for office.

Precedent. Plain and simple.
Also, if impeached he'll never be able to run for public office again and he'll lose all the perks of being an ex-president such as his pension, travel allowance, security detail, etc.

The president refused to even send the Guard in to help on Wednesday. Pence had to do it. People are rightfully angry.

The House charges, and the Senate punishes. Last time, the House found him guilty, so he's Impeached. However, the Senate didn't remove him or prevent him from running again. The same happened with Clinton. The House found him guilty, but the Senate didn't remove him.
The hope is that this time, after the House finds him guilty of one or more charges, the Senate will vote to remove him from office, and to prevent him from running again.
