Drinking fountains
I have a drinking fountain near my desk at work, shouldn't it be off limits during covid? How are drinking fountains still a thing? I find them so gross. They should all be replaced with bottle fill stations!

Re: Drinking fountains
i'm surprised any business still has them.
we have a few throughout the station (from many years ago), but non are functioning. we have countless water filling stations. we also are constantly giving away bottled water and/or water bottles to be refilled.
i think that the post-covid world will be drinking-fountain-less.
and yes, i think they're gross. i remember kids putting their mouths right on them in elementary school. yuck!!

Re: Drinking fountains
I opened a store about 5 years ago. It was chocolate/candy and childrens bday parties. At one point the town was telling me I was required to put a water fountain. So crazy because yes they are gross. I think that they should just convert the requirement to a water bottle filling station or something.

Re: Drinking fountains
You know what else is gross? Water coolers at work where people refill their Poland spring bottles and shove the mouth of the bottle that they were just sucking on right up onto the spigget. Omg that has skeeved me out for years!

Re: Drinking fountains
we had a water fountain in the main hallway of a building we share with other companies. It was taken out before covid.
It was gross in general because there must have been a block in the plumbing. People would dump/leave their drinks in there. It was disgusting.
God forbid we use a garbage can...

How hard is it to use a wide mouth reusable water bottle or a cup? Companies even give these away for free as part of their marketing. I feel like everywhere I go I see people giving away logo bottles. People are so gross and inconsiderate. Disposable water bottles aren't meant to be reused. Especially now that they've lessened the plastic they use on some of them and they have the same consistency and structure of drinking out of a potato chip bag! Wtf lol just get a bottle.
Fountains have always been gross even before covid. Seeing people performing oral sex on the faucet valve for a sip of water, no thanks.

I know. Animals! One time at my old company I saw lipstick marks on the spigot from someone's disgusting water bottle they they shoved onto the spigot and that was it- I no longer drank from the water cooler. I am just floored by the inconsideration of people in a shared space. Between that and the bathrooms with menstrual blood on the toilet seats, unflushed turds in the toilets, etc
OMG that's the ONE thing I don't miss about going to the office.

I never even thought of this but I survived using them though now that’s all I will think about at other people’s houses that have them
I will say I don’t put my bottles right up to the spigot even if it’s narrow a opening!

There are two people who routinely use it, which is gross. Dude, we have CUPS and a water dispenser in the kitchen, so use it!

Yes, building code requires fountains in commercial spaces in many LI towns. We were required to put one in also despite not wanting to.

Re: Drinking fountains
I skeeve those now. I just fill my water bottle at home and that's it until I get home. Housekeeping should be cleaning them but I would stay away or say something to management.
