Forehead Lines

I am at the end of my thirties and starting to notice a lot of lines on my forehead. I understand that it is part of aging, but I would like to do what I can to help fix/mask the issue while it is still possible. I am starting to feel very self-conscious about it.

Short of botox, what are some things I can do for forehead lines?

Re: Forehead Lines

are they horizontal lines across your forehead or "elevens" that are created from bringing your eyebrows together?

i'm asking because i'm noticing my "elevens" are getting deeper and am starting to look into what i can do.

it is my understanding that botox is the answer.
hopefully, there will be more information in this thread.

Re: Forehead Lines

Retinol is the best thing that is actually proven to work somewhat.
Botox obviously would be the only fool proof method.

But if you don't want to to go that way, definitely look into a good retinol

Re: Forehead Lines

This is going to sound weird, but put a piece of scotch tape on your forehead. It will show you when you are subconsciously scrunching your head to immediately help you stop. While it might not decrease what you have now, it can help prevent them getting deeper.

Re: Forehead Lines

I just purchased cream with retinol for this exact issue. And I have a large forehead so it’s really obvious.

If it doesn’t work, I’ll move on to trying Botox eventually. I’m not terrible vain but it really shows my age. That and I noticed my neck is getting softer and wrinkly Chat Icon

43 - lines in forehead getting deep
- neck getting wrinkly
- gray hair starting to show
- losing so much hair

Honestly, that is why I keep my bangs. I would love to grow them out, but yeah, it's not pretty without them!

I notice my forehead lines when my skin is dry. Moisturizing and dermaplaning work for me and help minimize the lines.

ETA
-Just wanted to add that the products I was using in my 20's & 30's were not working for me in my 40's. Had to go with skin products for mature skin. That also helped.

Re: Forehead Lines

Uughh - the lines! What are some recommended retinol products? I really need a skincare routine but I don't know where to start with products.

I recently bought Loreal Revitalift Derm Intensives Night Serum with 0.3% Pure Retinol

The thing is Retinol is a learning curve for your skin. It will probably look worse before it looks better. Many people stop it for that reason, before it can have any benefit.
So you have to just kind of know that you will get some dryness, some flakiness, some redness, and some break outs. Your skin has to "purge". Don't give up.
Also follow the directions on the box- start with just twice a week, then go to every other night. If you get too much irritation, scale back to every 3rd night for a bit.
But just know that some irritation is normal as your skin "adjusts"
It also takes a while to see results, so it's not going to be instant.

I know you wrote “short of botox” but the quickest, easiest and most effective way is botox. I get some here and there (very, very natural) to get rid of crows feet and forehead lines. My own mother doesn’t even know!

Look into “frownies” on Amazon. They’re not a permanent fix but they definitely help!

Ask your doc for a retinoid script. Retinoids are 20 x stronger than otc retinols. Also Botox, while certainly a luxury, isn’t much more expensive than getting hair highlights over the course of a year.

Thanks everyone! I will most likely get botox in the future, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could try in the meantime.

The earlier you start getting botox the better honestly. It prevents the wrinkles from getting worse or deeper. Think of it as preventative care LOL
I agree with PP that said it isnt much more than highlights... or even some of the more expensive creams that typically wind up doing next to nothing.

The only thing that holds me back is that I'm worried they will inject me wrong, I will be allergic, etc.! I've seen stories about people having a drooping eyelid after!

Same. It's not the money for me- I'm just not a fan of injecting things into my body that aren't 100% necessary for medical purposes.
It's a toxin and that just doesn't sit right for me, personally
I'm sure it's very safe- I'm just super cautious with everything

Forehead Lines

Botox! I have gotten botox since 32 for forehead lines, 11's, crows feet. I used to do it once a year now at 39 its around three times a year. I feel fantastic...no lines, skincare is great but it does not take away lines are wrinkles that are already there. You'll be happy you did!

Totally unrelated to OP (sorry!), but I saw this about CoVid and hair loss:

Hope you are feeling better, btw. Haven’t seen an update.

Forehead Lines

Check out Dr. Dray on YouTube. She is a Dallas dermatologist that reviews a lot of products and I think she has a video just on Retinols.

I (50) have forehead lines that are more prominent on the right side of my forehead. I must raise my right eyebrow a lot when I give people my "Are you kidding" look.
