Just wondering what you paid per square foot in recent years and what type of pavers...

Re: Anyone get a patio recently?
We just did it last summer. We priced out Nicolock and Cambridge. I believe both were $3.50/square for what I wanted However, Nicolock didn't nickel and dime about the size of the pavers. He said a pallet is a pallet and whatever the square footage is, it is. With Cambridge, I wanted to mix in larger stones and those were $4/square.
We ended up going with Cambridge only because that is who my contractor uses and we ordered from there. Then there was concern that the pavers were delayed so they sent us to Nicolock in West Babylon/Lindenhurst on Sunrise Hwy as a back up plan. My mason said they are the same quality and he guarantees both so I was annoyed because Nicolock would have saved us a few hundred dollars.
We ordered the Cambridge from K&K in Melville. They were nice there too. Also, I don't know what color you are looking for, but there is a 10% markup for blue/gray stones.

Thank you for the reply
I have no idea what we are doing lol. We are getting quotes from landscapers and Masonry people upwards of $15k. We were looking at nicoloc and cambridge. Did u find it cheaper to get the pavers yourselves and hire someone separately for labor? I also feel there might be inflated cost bc of where I live. I am wondering if there are decent quality pavers that are priced more moderately that would save on cost but I think most of the pricing is labor. We are also thinking to get quotes for stamped concrete as well so who knows...

I don't believe it matters if you pick the stone on your own or not. From what I understand, most masons will say they will charge you say $12/square foot and then they will tell you where to go to pick out your pavers and give you a budget. Like we were told $3/square foot is what was included in our price. Than we had to pay the difference.
As to quality, the mason we used went into a whole speech about the quality of pavers, I heard the whole history of Cambridge v. Nicolock...it was all very informative but basically the take away was you get what you pay for.
