25th anniversary gift
It's so hard because after 25 years, they probably already have everything. Maybe a gift card to a restaurant?

Re: 25th anniversary gift
I agree, gc to a restaurant, couples massage, really nice bottle of wine or alcohol if they like to drink. Do they have hobbies, if yes, gc to a store for those hobbies.
Also, I know you knit, so throw in some socks with the gift card. Your socks are beautiful.

Honestly after that amount of time, you need another shower with all new things. Lol. I would see if they are having a registry and if not then maybe a gift card or cards for dinner and maybe a home goods store.

Re: 25th anniversary gift
Since people usually have everything that they need at that point in life I love to gift "experiences". Something fun that maybe they wouldn't ordinarily take the time to invest in for themselves.
Do they enjoy cooking? Maybe get them a gift certificate to a couples cooking class. Sur La Table has many (if they have one near them) as well some independently owned places. If they are museum people, a museum pass is an awesome gift and most give you reciprocity at museums all over the country for when they travel. If they like sports, maybe a gift basket of fan goodies and tix to a game. You can never go wrong with a gift basket of wine, chocolate and a gift certificate for a romantic dinner.
