Mass. Bill Mandates Pay Scale Disclosure If Applicants Ask
This is interesting and sounds like a great bill.

To keep it simple, Massachusetts says employers have to disclose the pay scale for a position to any applicant or employee who holds the position, if he or she requests it.

Five years ago, Massachusetts became the first state in the nation to bar employers from asking a job applicant's salary history before offering them a job.
The Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development heard testimony Tuesday from lawmakers and fair labor advocates about legislation (H 1950 / S 1208) that would would require employers to disclose the pay scale for a position to a job applicant or an employee who currently holds the position, if they request it.

So 2 years ago at my job there were a lot of complaints about salary ranges not being transparent. Now you can go onto our HR portal and see the salary ranges for your grade....they very greatly...like $50K or more for a bunch of grades but at least their is transparency a step in the right direction. I'm not mad at MA...I think it can be a good thing.
