Medical marijuana card-NY
Has anyone gotten one online? What’s the process/cost? Then what? You show up to a dispensary and they hand you a sack of weed?
This is not for me btw ( ). I am bound by federal regulations. But I feel like things are about to change.

first find a doc who can rx cannabis. they walk you through the process. it's like applying for unemployment. same portal @.gov
upload some stuff and you get a temp card to print.

It could be a long time. They are setting up discretionary boards to regulate it so it could be maybe a year before you can go to a dispensary in NY. BUT, even if you bought it from some rando dealer, it's not illegal to possess it.
ETA: Though I'm not sure it's *technically* legal to buy it in that way. It's all up in the air at the moment. The .gov site is super unhelpful.
ETAA: You can also try to go through a company like Variheal that will do the legwork for you. Not sure of the cost for that but it might be worth the hassle.

Yeah, you can definitely buy from CT. Is it legal recreationally in NJ now? It's legal to possess in NY, I just don't know if it's technically legal to BUY it in NY yet. No idea about shipping though. That gets sticky with some states having it legal and some not- transporting illegal drugs across state lines and all that. It's so weird!

It's not LEGAL in NY as in, you can openly purchase it. You can possess up to 3oz, but there has been no licensing or regulations for places to sell. You also can't have it shipped to NY (they won't mail it).
A medical marijuana card costs about $250 and you can purchase from the dispensary, but I believe they only sell liquids, oils, etc, no flower.

Thanks for this. I looked more Into it as it won’t be easily / readily available in NY until 2023.
I’m going to ask my dr about medical MJ to help with my fibro flares. Currently the specialist gave me muscle relaxers but that can only be taken at bedtime and honestly, weed works much better for the pain. I’d rather not smoke it. Regulated Pill form sounds like the best option for me.

You can’t buy it in other state and bring it here cause it still illegal on a federal level therefore it’s illegal to cross state lines with it.

Lol yes dumb but true. Basically the dealer would get in trouble if caught but not you. And When I say in trouble as long it’s not a ton pretty sure it’s a fine they will have to pay.
Even before it was legal it was decriminalized so if you were caught with weed before the legalization you only got a ticket which the penalty was a fine and the fine wasn’t a lot.

Smoke shops selling pot? They can very easily get shut down for that.
