Anyone’s kids in DOE or DOE teachers
Does anyone know what the school hours will be in fall? Will they go back to pre-COVID?
My kids school hours used to be 8-2:20 with doors opening for early drop off at 7:30. Last year with COVID, no early drop off of course and hours were 8:30-1:55.
I need to figure this out so I can plan (I am back in the office and DH is returning in Sept to his office). I know each school can set their own hours (i.e. 8:15-2:35, etc.). I am already assuming early drop off won’t be happening but will start time at least resume??? How are parents supposed to plan? Has anyone heard anything?
I’ve never been in August literally not knowing when to bring my kids to school in Sept.

Ugh it stinks. I am in the same boat. Kids in the DOE and we are still waiting on word about early drop off and after school.

As of now I think it will go back to normal precovid times. That could change though because remember last year? it’s such a disaster for everyone involved at the school level. I would say definitely have some sort of back up plan bc ya know, the doe

Depends on the school. If you can check with your children’s principal. I’m in a D75 school and we went to original school hours, 8 to 250. But as I speak to people at different schools, it seems every place is different.

It’s different for each school so you would be better off calling the office.

DD going to middle school this year and our principal has been sending out lots of info. We were told start time is 8AM and they are not sure about early dropoff yet. I think each school can make their own decision on that. Try calling the school- there is always someone there and if you leave a message, they'll get back to you.

Re: Anyone’s kids in DOE or DOE teachers
Thanks all. I just sent an email to the parent coordinator, but you would think by now DOE would have a consensus (ie are they returning to the 6 hour 20 min model?). No one seems to know. Even my friends who are teachers are up in the air. One friend said the day may be shortened by the lunch period time bc they probably won’t have lunch in the cafeteria and will eat at their desks and that can be considered “instructional time”.
