At my wit’s end
I am paying over 3500$/month for daycare/school for my young children and I feel like I have no recourse when it comes to the Covid/Sick policy. My husband and I both work and I keep getting phone calls every time there is an effing sniffle. The amount of leave I have burned over essentially nothing is criminal. I live in a world where this isn’t going away and we need to adjust accordingly. Vaccine/no vaccine, mask, no mask-it doesn’t matter. Restrictions are getting more and more unreasonable and I feel like I don’t have a voice. Has any parent had any success in getting a refund or pulling their kids out of a program?

Do you have a plan set up if you pull them out? I know some places are a bit stricter than others (my coworker had a good run at her daycare while her sil didn't during covid)... It is frustrating...

Do they think you have your kids in daycare because you like lighting money on fire? Obviously you work if your kids are in daycare and you can’t pick them up. No one has any common sense anymore.
It might make sense to look into a nanny or, if you have the room, an au pair.
ETA I think my DD’s daycare gave a partial refund in spring 2020. I have friends who not only didn’t get a refund but also had to pay while the daycare was closed to “hold their spot.” It’s honestly so ridiculous and I will never, ever fathom why people think parents can just quit their jobs and stay home with their kids.

My daughter is home again for another week. She just went back toward after 2 weeks off only to get a call from the daycare saying there was a positive case and she has to come take DD home again!
And the more my granddaughter is home she is getting very attached to my daughter and won't let her leave her sight, So dropping her off the coast 2 days at school was very difficult.
This whole thing is a sht show and having such back effects to these poor kids
And what does your job say when you are out for 3 weeks. Its not fair to them either they need there employees too!

Re: At my wit’s end
I would look for care elsewhere or hire a nanny.

This. I think it would be cheaper and less stressful to just get a nanny

I would definitely get a Nanny or Au Pair. That is bonkers.
