Any lacrosse parents?
I signed my kids up for lacrosse. 1st grade boy and 3rd grade girl. What kind of equipment do they need beside the sticks and balls? Do they need cleats? We've only done soccer and brand new to lacrosse...

Re: Any lacrosse parents?
I can only help you with the girls… Stick, mouthguard, goggles, helmets are optional and most don’t wear in the younger ages. Cleats will depend on what kind of field it is. If a grass field - definitely most will be wearing cleats. If turf it’s field dependant- they should tell you. Hope this helps and have fun!

You can use soccer cleats for lacrosse if you are on a grass field.

Re: Any lacrosse parents?
At this age, they can use their soccer cleats. There really isn't much difference. I would look around and ask if anyone you know is getting rid of LAX equipment. Or look on a marketplace. If you can't find it there - Lacrosse Unlimited usually sells beginner equipment in sets. You can also ask the coach. I know for us, we give the organization equipment that the boys grew out of. Boys LAX has a lot more equipment then girls LAX. Boys you typically need a helmet, stick, chest pad, elbow pads, gloves, and probably a few things I am forgetting.

Re: Any lacrosse parents?
I second the beginner set from Lacrosse Unlimited, but like Cookie suggested see if anyone is getting rid of stuff that their kids have outgrown.

Another vote for Lacross Unlimted. They have a beginners package for both boys and girls. ****'s also has a beginner set and you can use coupons. YAY! For the boys you'll need everything mentioned above plus a cup and mouth guard. They will both need cleats as well, but you can use soccer cleats if you have those...

Re: Any lacrosse parents?
I can only speak to the boys...I got 3 of them doing this...I think ****'s is cheaper than Lax Unlimited but Lax Unlimited definitely helps fit them right. They always have what you need in stock too. With your little guy, I would definitely ask the Coach to see if they have donations. If not, ask on your local moms page. Amazon has the stuff pretty cheap also. I paid $150 for the chest protector at LU but you can get one on Amazon for $49.
