Another CrockPot question

I have a Rival white 5 quart crockpot and have used it a bunch of times. It seems that everything cooks a lot quicker than it is supposed to. I will set it to 10 hours and it is ready in about 5.

Does anyone else have this problem? What crockpot does everyone have and do you recommend it?

Re: Another CrockPot question

do you have a high and low setting on it?? It sounds like you have it on the high setting when it should be on the low setting.

Re: Another CrockPot question

i have the same crockpot with the same settings... i think it probably is done cooking a lot sooner... but i think part of the appeal of crock pots is that they simmer for a long time and all the flavors mix together... so while it might be done cooking, it can sit and simmer and the flavors get even better... lol but who knows Chat Icon mine also has a "warm" setting that after the 8 hours are up, it just keeps it warm...

Ugh...so there's no low temp setting?

The Rival crock that I have has the low, high and keep warm setting. Then you can adjust the time with a digital timer.

Does the book say if it's cooking it on a high or low setting? If it's cooking it on high and a recipe calls for low 8 hrs you should cut the time in half.

HTH.
