Re: my friggin CAT
My cat decided to start peeing at the base of the basement steps for awhile. The vet recommended that I move the litterbox to the area where he's decided to start peeing and then slowly start moving back towards where it was. She also said to put something the cat wouldn't pee on on the offending spot for while so he couldn't get at it, like a box. I've also seen these plastic mats with little uncomfortable plastic spikes on them that they make for couches that makes it so that cat won't jump up there.

Re: my friggin CAT
Nothing works on cat urine. NOTHING. I've tried it all. If you can't smell it the scent is still there and th cat will be prone to do there again.
I've replaced couches, even put Pergo down in my living room. (Boy I love my cats)
I finally tried putting litter boxes on every level of our house. I have 4 boxes for 2 cats. Keeping this clean is really important. This has done the trick.
It's most likely a behavior problem. Is there something you have in the house that has the scent of another animal on it. Or is there an animal that crosses your property? These are other reasons cats go out of the litter pan.
Finally, is there a medical problem? Urinary tract infection?

Re: my friggin CAT
Have you done anything to upset the cat lately like go on vacation? Mine did it after we were away for a while- it was like a way for her to show us that she was NOT happy with it! And I agree- I still can't get the smell out. It's gotten a lot less severe but every now and then I'll get a whiff of it still!

Re: my friggin CAT
I use Nature's Miracle (I think that's what it's called). My cat regularly pukes once a week from acid reflux and then there was the peeing incident. Then I got a puppy and we used it to clean up all his accidents. The stuff worked on all those incidents, took up the stain off the carpet and left no odor.
