Re: Turtlenecks?
I suggest a cashmere or cashmere blend sweater - if you want soft. Bloomingdales carries their own line of cashmere - and they aren't too badly priced. Also, TJ Maxx always has cashmere sweaters and turtlenecks for around $39.99.

Re: Turtlenecks?
if you need them for layering, Macy's has VERY SOFT cotton turtlenecks from Charter Club. I have several that I purchased many yrs ago and they've held up beautifully!
Ann Taylor probably has some nice stuff too.

Re: Turtlenecks?
A turtleneck sweater or a layering one?
For a real classic turtleneck, try LLBean or Lands' End.
For sweaters, J Crew always has a great selection.

I was also going to suggest lands end, ll bean or eddie bauer.
