Baking Question....
This is really random, but someone might be able to help....
I made a carrot cake 2 weeks ago which called to be made in a 9"X13" pan, I didn't have one that size so I made it in a smaller pan. I cooked it for a little longer than the recipe called for, and the cake was cooked, but dense and a little bit wet. So my question is this....does anyone know any tips for converting pan sizes and cooking times??? Or...do I have to go out and buy a 9"X13" baking pan???
TIA

Re: Baking Question....
I usually just play it by "ear" so to speak....
actually I use a toothpick...
I keep checking it, and when it comes out clean, it's done.
I never set timers when I bake because my timer sucks and never goes off right anyway -- so I just check it ... and judge it by how good the kitchen smells and the toothpick trick....
BTW I'm looking for a good carrot cake recipe....maybe I can sneak some veggies in for mooey that way.
