Or is this picture on the jcrew website just horrible? Why would they advertise their clothes with something like this?

I mean the model - look at her face - I'm sure in other pictures she looks good, but here she looks awful with the yellowy teeth, the red smeary lipstick, the weird spots of blush. She looks like an old woman...

I think all the models in the book are VERY plain looking, but I think thats the look they want.
That model in the picture should not be modeling.

i look at the clothes
a models teeth wouldn't discourage me from buying

TOTALLY!! J.Crew models aren't always the prettiest.. I think it's so you focus more on the clothes..lol

I didn't even notice her face, and I think the outfit looks really cute on her. I personally like that she looks like an average women and not a glamizon.

Jcrew models tend to be plain Jane, but I find most of them very pretty....in a natural way. I wouldn't have thought to look at this one's teeth, but I see your point!
