i dont commute but i walk around alot.
i dont wear any of my high high heels usually unless i plan on hating myself later....
i bring pair of flats usually then change on the subway or when im near my destination.
otherwise i always get shoes i know i can be comfortable in

If you dont want to wear sneakers, how about those bowling shoes that are a cross between sneaker/shoe?
I wear my converse to commute and then flip flops in the winter.

98% of the time i wear sneakers since i go to the gym in the morning. i also like the sneakers since i have to stand most of the time on the way home

i wear ugg loafers or ballet flats. i don't like to do sneakers, but i will if it's rainy
how does anyone do ugg boots? they won't fit in my bag once i've reached the client site and changed into my real heels.. and it's not very professional to walk in carrying them

I wear my Pumas all the time...I always wear big shoulder bags and stuff my shoes in there...I actually have a collection of shoes under my desk...there are plenty of times during my commute when I have to run to the bus or the train and I am not risking my ankles by trying to look cute in shoes. Also after 9/11 you always have to be prepared to walk home like I did that day so sneakers for me always.

same here except i dont wear my pumas, i wear my diesel sneaks.
i feel like i look like a big dork but when i commuted wearing heels, my shoes took too much of a beating (not to mention my feet).

I try to buy shoes that I know I can walk in-- that is why I love boots. I also can dress casually for work, so I am always wearing boots and jeans. I love the thicker heels that are in right now-- becuase I can handle the 2 miles I have to walk every day.
The summer though is the best-- flips all the way!
If I have to wear heels-- I wear my bavarian clogs-- they are practically slippers and slip easily in my bag when I change shoes.
