Re: Have you ever been passed over for a promotion?
I would hand it in but only after I found another job. To me, what happened to you shows just how much or how little the company valued me.

Re: Have you ever been passed over for a promotion?
Not me, but a coworker was passed up and she had been with the company for 10 years and the other person had been there 2 years, but the other person was hired by the boss while my friend was in before the current boss. She started interviewing and was one interview away from being offered a job, when we (her, me and another coworker) got laid off. She got offered the other job a week later, but I know it must have bugged her to not have been able to give her resignation. I still wish for that moment when I could say I was leaving not be told to leave.

Re: Have you ever been passed over for a promotion?
I was at my current job actually. The head of the IT department left and I was the number two of the company.
But I only had two years in the company and they felt I was a little underqualified.
I ended up with a new boss and they passed me on the promotion. I don't mind though cause my new boss is mad cool... and the company is still very good to me.
Its kinda less work in the end for me.

I agree. Don't shoot yourself in the foot by leaving before you have something else, but I would definitely make plans to leave if they don't appreciate or recognize you.

Re: Have you ever been passed over for a promotion?
this sort of happened to me...they told me that they were going to promote me...then when they found out that I was pregnant...they used the $$ that was in the budget for my promotion to hire someone else.
I was very upset...but decided that since no other person was going to hire a pregnant woman...I would have to s*ck it up
