I was just thinking that! I never knew dogs ate rocks till I watched Emergency Vets on Animal Planet. They amaze me, the things they eat!
I liken this to kids getting a big expensive toy and playing with the box. One year I got my nephew just that - a box. That could be folded into the shape of a house, drawn on, etc. It was a huuuuge hit.

my cat takes her dry food and hits it and chases it around our kitchen floor, then eventually will pick it up in her paw and eat it, bizarre and it makes my dh crazy, but she's occupied and i sweep daily....so no biggie!!
