DH's ex-girlfriend does this for the past 3 years or so. She's a bit wacky so it makes sense coming from her.

i get them too sometimes.... I much prefer a nice handwritten card and/or letter. That's probably why I spend close to $60.00 on postage every year! nothing beats snail mail that is not a bill!
