Re: OMG Im a freaking out right now
He'll be fine. Just monitor him and try to NOT make a big deal about it (esp. in front of him). you don't want to instill a fear of water in him.
Hang in there!!!

Re: OMG Im a freaking out right now
I'm sure he'll be ok. DD has been under water so many times. We took a Mommy & Me swim class at Saf-T-Swim and we did submersions. After the first few she learned to hold her breath and now will even blow bubbles. We've continued doing this at town pools this summer. DD is a little fish, she loves it.
She has slipped under the water once or twice in her kiddie pool, I've always been right there to sit her back up. She always comes up laughing.
Sometimes it's a fight to keep her above water in the bath.

She was about 7 months when we took the lessons. She is now 11 months.

Re: OMG Im a freaking out right now
DS and I took a "dive" when trying to get out of a ride at Splish Splash. He cried but was fine. He was 12 months.
He took a dive in his own bathtub head first. He was fine.
He took a dive again head first in his kiddie pool. He was fine.
Just monitor that he does not want to go sleep right afterwards and make sure he is active.

Don't worry about the dry drowning thing - it is VERY rare. Plus all it essentially is is aspirating which can really happen at any time even while drinking you can't really worry about it.

No because I read how RARE it is and he was 100% fine afterwards.

I don't mean to hijack, but which ride were you able to go on with him? Any of the tube rides? Or just the kiddie area rides? Debating if I should take Emma since I know Nicholas will want to go on tube rides.

Re: OMG Im a freaking out right now
I can make you all feel better....just spend a day with me at the beach or the pool and you'll see just what DD does in the water
Goes right in and right under...there is NO stopping her...especially at the beach, just goes and goes and goes.
Totally fine but it is unnerving

We did the lazy river (I think that's what it's called!) with the tubes. They must have the life jacket you can rent though (you just leave a $40 deposit or driving license that you get back when you return the jacket). You can do the wave pool ride too but I did not do it.
Babies are allowed on some rides but they must have the life jackets. The lazy river is nice and calm. They have those double tubes. 2 people per tube so you and Nicholas could go together and take Emma with you.
