if you hit "Clear" it will delete that post from your page and your friends pages.
then you can re-type whatever you want.

I'm pretty sure you meant an original Note, but just in case... If it is a response to a post, an email update gets sent to my facebook application whenever someone responds to a note I post. If I respond to someone elses note and someone responds after me, a message gets sent to my phone too. I have to turn this feature off, but just want to let you know it happens.
