Re: Why do I bother putting an RSVP date on an invitation?
we had that happen with our wedding. They RSVP'd yes and then right before the wedding said no, the plane tix are too expensive. Don't you think you would look into that BEFORE you RSVP??
Who isn't coming?

I know how you feel. It happens every party and let's not get me started about my wedding.

Re: Why do I bother putting an RSVP date on an invitation?
Every time we have a party a few people never rsvp !!
I used to send e-mail's to follow up but I don't anymore. They're adults, they should know how to read an invitation and respond ON time.

so when they show up, you should say "oh, we weren't expecting you..I hope we have enough chairs, you might have to stand when you eat"

No - they ARE coming. Anthony's sister, husband, son and GF. That's 4 more people eating dinner.
I'm so worried that I'm not going to have enough food. And at this point I don't have anymore time to make anything else.
That's when you nicely tell them that since they RSVPd so late, they have to wait until everyone has eaten for them to eat, jut in case there isn;t enough.

Re: Why do I bother putting an RSVP date on an invitation?
I HATE when people do this! Honestly, when people RSVP a week or more late, I really would consider telling them it's too late and not care about it!

Re: Why do I bother putting an RSVP date on an invitation?
I hate it when people do that. The RSVP gave me such a headache while planning our wedding. I had one person cancel on me on the day of the wedding. We were taking pics at the reception hall when the maitreD came in with the message that someone had called the place and told them to tell me that they had to cancel cuz they were stuck in traffic and had to turn around and go home... It was complete BS of course. Then I had those that rsvp'd yes and didn't show up. Then I had a cousin show up with 2 of her friends. She rsvp'd for her and her husband. Her husband turned out to be sick on that day and she shows up with not 1 but 2 of her friends. I understand her bringing that 1 friend to take the place of her husband but 2??? I cannot believe the nerve that people have.
I cannot stand it when people don't rsvp but come. It's like they think they don't have to rsvp. DH's family does that.

Re: Why do I bother putting an RSVP date on an invitation?
I think everyone that plans a party goes through this - it's not hard to make a call, send an email, return a stamped pre-addressed card. But to be honest though, I would have followed up with immediate family. I hope it all works out and I am sure everyone will have a great time!!
