Why is Dh acting this way? Does he not like his cousin enough to get back to her? I think he should call her and be honest and tell her whether or not he can or cannot attend the christening.
I wouldn't ignore the whole situation because his cousin already told you "her plan" to ask him to be godfather - i think he now has a right to respond to her.
But - His cousin shouldn't be telling people that he is the godfather or for that matter coming to the christening if she hasn't even asked him or made sure - that's just wrong of her too.
