Yeah, I told him that he has to take it (higher pay, too!)
I just don't know if it's worth calling off the job search
If its more pay you should definitely take it. For the reason alone that it adds to your salary history.
You can always continue looking if he doesn't feel comfortable with job security.
He should be happy he was retained. He must be a valued employee there.

Take it and keep searching. That way when and if he gets cut, he leaves with a higher title and salary. And if he doesn't get cut, he gets a higher title and salary. It's win/win!
