Re: Should I do it?
I think that I would still send it (only once I'm done dealing with them forever - after I got the $ back.) What they did is wrong and they should not get away with it. Maybe I would shorten it then and explain that this is why you are no longer doing any business with them (both service and purchase of new cars.) I think the manager should be aware of how their service people are using the surveys.

Re: Should I do it?
While they weren't able to fix it properly, they did refund your money, so you could take it elsewhere without giving you a hassle. I would probably just let it go at this point.

Re: Should I do it?
It was just a chip before and now it's cracked?? That's awful. I would only talk to the general manager if I wasn't planning on going back there. If this is your first incident with them in 6 years I would have to weigh the good with the bad and I would probably drop it for now. I would still be upset though.

Re: Should I do it?
If they took care of it for you I wouldn't complain.
Service departments get paid on their customer satisfaction. They base all bonuses and promotions on it. So it's a big deal to them.
If they paid for the repair I would leave it alone.

I paid them for the repair...that repair led to the chip becomming a crack.
They're giving me my money back that I paid for the repair- but I still have a cracked windshield.
im sorry that is unacceptable to me... they made something a lot worse then it was... it is their responsibility to fix it...and now they are costing you more money...
have they admited that they turned the chip into a crack or are they saying it was always a crack??

I agree. Unless you find another dealership you can go to from now on I don't know if I would send it
eta. Save the letter though and anything else related to the incindent. If you go back and they give you a hard time or mess up again in the future then send it in!

Re: Should I do it?
Personally, I would send it and never go back to that dealership. That is unacceptable that "it must've cracked after it was checked out but before you picked it up." Even if it did crack after check out it was on there property and as far as I'm concerned their responsibility. I think this is a little shady. Even if you don't send it I still would never go back.
I had a problem with a Ford dealership. I had work done on my car (not the windshield) and when I picked it up the windshield was cracked. The manager wouldn't even come out and speak to me! I refused to take the car like that and the next day they replaced it without so much as an apology.
GL!

Re: mini update on bottom: Should I do it?
not having complaints just means noone bothered to file them - alot like what you are doing. doesnt mean that they are any better then any of the other dealers. personally i would not let them get away without fixing the windshield. they cracked it they have to fix it - you shouldnt be putting out an extra 300 dollars because of their error. they are there to service you. not cause you additional expense because of something they did. i would send the letter and cc it to corporate. how they treated you is totally unacceptable why be nice to them? doesnt make sense ... why are you passifying the dealership?
