That's so annoying. I keep getting "So when are you having the 2nd one?" From WORK people no less  I just pat my tummy and say "Hey, it might already be on the way"
They look shocked and I laugh and leave them wondering. They never ask again.

Yeah...we get that ALL the time from ALL of my ILs....
I get Grandpa crying saying he'll never see his Great Grandchildren
I get my MIL saying she'll be old and weak by the time we give her Grandchildren
I get my Nephew's saying get busy we want to babysit
I get my SIL asking all the time...
I just continue to . It's not that we never want kids, but geez...we just got married less than a year ago...we want to do things, pay off debt and live as a married couple before having children.
I HATE having for us to have to explain ourselves at EVERY family function, so now we just

we haven't been asked the question yet by family.... but are getting pressured by friends.. they start out as jokes.. but I know they're serious....
I wish people would just let it happen when it's supposed to and stop asking!!!!!
ETA: My close friend always said people will never be satisfied.. when you're dating, they want to know when you're "getting married", once you get married, they want to know "when are you having kids" once you have the first, it's "wnen are you having the second"
I guess it never ends...

I think it is so rude when people ask this! Its such a loaded question. What if you don't want kids? What if you are trying and having trouble? Really.
Although yesterday I was walking through a crowded street fair with DD and someone turned to me and said I want grandkids so bad!

I dont find it rude at all.  I mean I like when people ask because I like that people think of me and DH as progressing along in our marriage. Thats just me though... I have a hard time not talking about personal things in my life.

Amazingly, my family does not get on my case. They have enough grace and common sense to know better based on past experiences of other family members. It is the rest of the world that needs to keep their traps shut. To those who need to remind me of my age and biological clock, kiss my patootie.

I find it EXTREMELY rude when the CONSTANTLY ask it...after explaining yourself SEVERAL times... It's not something we should have to explain at EVERY function.

I work in a college - I've had a few of my students ask me when we are planning on having kids! I still can't get over that!
Our families don't bother us anymore. When we first got married it was a pretty constant thing. We made it quite clear that it was going to be a few years, now they don't bring it up. Once my MIL even said "you can have kids when you want, I'm not bringing it up!" Um, thanks!

You know what really annoys me about this? How and when does YOUR decision about having kids become all about other people?!? This one wants to be a young grandmother- this one doesn't want to be too weak and old- this one wants a great grandchild.
You know what? Having children is a deeply personal decision and it is done for you and your DH ONLY.
Not for the 100 other people who are dying for a child in the family.
I think it is SO rude and selfish when people make comments like that and I tend to get VERY snippy in my responses.
That is my BIGGEST pet peeve these days!

I hear ya... people ask us that all the time and we've only been married for 3 weeks!!!
My motto is ask a bold question be prepared to get a bold answer... So with that in mind my answer is typically when I'm pregnant you'll know... And I leave it at that. Frankly it's no one's business and the fact that they ask is irritating. At least to me it is!

i got that question a few times this weekend... i just told them not for a few years.
Whether or not it's right to ask, having a child just seems, for many people, to be the next step.
ironically, i've been asked more by other friends who are recently married. My close family knows that DH and I are waiting a few years, and support that.

HUGE yes. I so agree. My dear friend had a miscarriage, and she and her DH told no one really....but family members just randomly ask "why they're waiting so long."
You don't know what's going on in someone's bedroom and life.

I dont get it from my family or inlaws anymore also they know already I want to try nextyear. BUT its the people at work I have this one co-worker saying to me You have Baby in you yet? and he pats my belly And I am like NO and dont do that! also I have another co-worker who is 2 months pg and she keeps insisting to me I am going to get pregnant soon, I told her when I do you will Know. I tell ya people at work have No respect for your privacy I thought your"intimate life" was you own bussiness I guess not because everyone else wants to know when are you going to do the deed!
