1 year old eating schedule...

My son just turned one and I am confused about how I start to introduce whole milk...right now he gets 8 oz of formula as soon as he gets up in a bottle, should I be eliminating that? I see teh doctor in 2 weeks, but I am curious what other kids eat at this age as I don't think he eats enough variety....if there was another thread, please send me the link!

thanks....

Re: 1 year old eating schedule...

Thats exactly what I do, I give Noah his milk in either a sippy cup or a bottle as soon as he wakes up...usually 8 oz, but at the moment he has discovered that if you hold the bottle upside down, the milk comes out in a nice puddle on the floor...anyway, then he has a small snack (either a crumpet or a potato cake or a piece of toast) then at nursery he gets some cereal for breakfast. Then he gets some milk with his snack at around 3 o'clock in a cup, then he gets one right before bed.

He has cereal for breakfast, something hot for lunch (like a tuna pasta bake, lentil bake, spaghetti bolognase, chili and rice) then a snack at like 3 (cheese and crackers, apple, tuna pitas etc) and then he gets dinner at 5.30 (ish) which is usually like Beefy Rice, Pasta & Veg Meatballs, Fish Sticks and Beans, Anything thats leftover from our dinner...

Hope this helps!

Re: 1 year old eating schedule...

Since DD was on soy formula, I did 1 oz of whole milk to 7 oz of formula in her bottle and upped the milk amount every day.

I give her some milk in a sippy first thing in the AM and with breakfast and she'll drink from it, but not much. Then I give her a bottle before naptime, the amount depends on how much she drank out of the sippy.

In the afternoon, she gets milk in her sippy also, and that I don't stress on the amount. She gets water in a sippy at lunch and she drinks that really well.

Bedtime she gets another 7 oz milk bottle and finishes it.

We've been using a sippy for water since she's 6 or 7 months old to get her used to it, and while she does drink both milk and water from it, she drinks MORE from a bottle.

ETA: she'll eat anything in terms of real food except for eggs....she doesn't seem to like them.

Re: 1 year old eating schedule...

Roman gets 4 6oz bottles a day. I give half milk and half formula in each bottle. So I guess he is getting 12oz of milk a day. He seems to be okay with the whole milk so I will slowly be giving him just milk. He uses his sippy cups instead of bottles at day care I mostly do bottles at home, but he seems okay with both so I should do away with the bottle I guess.
