1 years olds and walking question
Are there any moms of 1 year olds that are not walking at all? My 1 year old is just starting to pulll herself up on the couch and in the crib but that is about it. I see alot of people posting on here that their 1 year olds have been walking for a while and I guess I am getting nervous. I have a push toy for her and she won't use it. I put her behind it and she pushes it but just drops to her knees. Her fine motor skills are quite good though. Do you think I should question my ped about EI? We are going for her 1 year appt next week. TIA

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
My son is 14 months and still not walking. He just started standing on his own for a bit without losing his balance. He walks around holding onto anything he can get his hands on, but not even a step on his own.
Not concerned at all. Ped said by 18 mons they all walk. I don't think it'll be that long, but each day he gets a little more confidence and stands on his own longer. I'm thinking 15 - 16 months.
ETA - he's a speed crawler

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
My DD turned 1 on July 18th and is not walking yet
She pulls up, does some free stands *sometimes*, but other than that, she likes to crawl

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
I would not worry. Don't rush it. When they are ready, they will walk. My DD took her first steps already, fell and got a little scared. Now she's extra cautious so I'm letting her do it on her own time.

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
DS is almost 14 months and not walking on his own. He will walk holding our hands but seems afraid to let go.

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
Thanks everyone.
I guess I just started to see so many of the babies around DD's age walking and started to get nervous.

Re: 1 years olds and walking question
EI will not do anything for you until your child is 18 months old, unless there are other reason they may not be walking.
some children are just late walkers.
