100.8 temp in a 1 year old...

DS was running a 99 all day & I just took it & it has spiked to 100.8. I just called our Ped's after hours line & waiting for a call back but I don't know what to do. DS has NEVER had a fever.

He has not lost his appetite but is extra cranky. He is playing like he normally does. I just gave him Tylenol to hold him off until bedtime when I can give him motrin.

Any other suggestions?

100.8 really isn't considered a fever unless there are other symptoms...DS is 11 months and had 101.8 and the pedi said to just give tylenol...

Tylenol or Motrin. That's a fairly mild fever.

A fever is anything over 100.4 - so 100.8 is a very low grade fever. I wouldn't worry too much if your DC is playing normally (even if he is cranky). I wouldn't give both tylenol and motrin though. You might want to give motrin tonight before bed though in case your DC's temperature goes up (it is normal for it to be higher at nighttime). I know unless my child is acting very sick my ped says anything under 102.5 is consider a lower fever.

I hope your DC feel better soon.

ITA, however i would probably continue with the tylenol at bedtime rather than the motrin-as long as the fever is that low.

If it makes you feel any better, my DD normally runs a high fever (104+), Dr always says its not just the number, but how they are acting
