10:30 lunch for 6th grade
What do you send in with your child who eats the school lunch at 10:30? Should I pack a lunch DD can eat later? I'm not sure when she will be allowed to eat. She gets out at 2:20 and goes to after school in the bldg.

Okay any suggestions of what would go in a brown paper bag (DD is embarrassed to carry a lunch bag) and not get smushed (they don't have lockers and carry around their books in backpacks and coats all day)?

I would get a lunch bag, most kids in middle and high school use them. It's their imagination that they will get made fun of.
My son had lunch at 9:30am last year. I packed a lot of bagels, croissants, apples, etc.

Yes, I was going to suggest the same as well as Crackers, bananas hold up well, cheese, grapes, chips, granola bars, muffins, plums, cereal bars... anything dry you know they can snack on. Even if its multiple little snacks so it holds them till dinner. :)

10:30 lunch for 6th grade
I get her not wanting a kids lunch bag, but what about those cute ones for adults? Or using an outer pocket on her school bag?
I've seen kids also eat dry cereal.

They sell solid ones all over. Most kids I know in middle and high do not bring kid lunch boxes (i.e. characters, etc.)

Definitely include a snack. My son had a teacher that let them eat in the classroom because it was too long between lunch & the end of the day.

This brings back memories
I had lunch at 10:30 in the 6th grade and didn't like it at all. Way to early!
I agree with pp with bringing a snack.

Crashing this post - why/how are kids eating lunch at 10:30? This didn't happen where I went to school upstate - the earliest lunch times were 11:30.
My DS's are in elem school now and I just learned this week that they're eating their lunches at 1:15pm -- I was so surprised they weren't hungry at dinner but they are having most of their nutrition at 1:15, and then the sitter was giving them a snack at 4pm so no wonder they're full at 5:45 for dinner. But why can't kids eat lunch at noon anymore???

Only so many kids can fit into the lunchroom at once. My son has 10:15 lunch this year. School is done at 1:05, so 12:30 lunch is a thing of the past!
