My high daughter went today, she said the school is pretty empty. Our district put out a call last night and a lot of people decided to stay home. I had to pop in the school for something and it seemed like business as usual though.

My middle schooler is home and said today was uneventful. He had known there was a threat but didn't believe it thankfully.

Re: 12/17
Seems a 14 year old was just arrested today for a threat to his school but it seems a non-event for everyone as I am hearing at work all the kids are home and ok.

Half of my school’s student body was absent today. I honestly don’t understand it. It never crossed my mind not to send my son to school today.

My daughter is in 4th grade. She knew nothing about today and I just asked her if there were any kids absent and she said only 3. (There are 19 in her class). When I dropped her off this morning it seemed to be business as usual.

This is why social media is not for children. IMO, no preteen needs any form of social media. My oldest child is in 5th grade and none of his friends have any social media- I hope it stays that way for at least a couple more years so he doesn't start asking me for it.
