12 week appt - not too exciting
Just wondering...
Is your 12 week appointment supposed to be a big one? My doctor did a quick external sono (which I'm not sure if I was even supposed to get), saw the baby and the heartbeat and that was it. He didn't give me a picture either. Now I did come in last week because I was spotting and may have passed a clot. When I came is he did an internal sono and gave me a picture. Nothing really changed too much, so I guess that could be why. I guess I was so excited to finally be almost done with the 1st trimester. I haven't even heard the heartbeat yet. I was going to ask to hear it tonight, but my appointment was over before I even knew it.
Am I totally overeacting? You can tell me. I mean if something was wrong they would have told me, right?

Re: 12 week appt - not too exciting
Minus the sono, that sounds like all of my appointments, which are pretty uneventful. I pee in a cup, they weigh me, take my BP, talk about if I am having any issues and go over any tests that I have had done.
ETA: I don't think I heard the heartbeat unti like 16 weeks, I forgot, she does that too and now measures my belly, but I am never in there more than 10-15 minutes

Re: 12 week appt - not too exciting
With my 1st pg, i didn't hear the heartbeat until my 16 week appt, but i did see on past sono's.
You're appts will get quick as you progress
I am with the dr for maybe 5 mins, he hits the my tummy with the doppler, asks how i doing, if i have any aches/pains, any questions and i am off, same with 1st pg.
This pg, i didn't even get a sono at 12 weeks like i had with DD.
If something was wrong they totally would have told you If you aren't comfy, def call the office tomorrow and make sure everything is okay, that's what they are there for
ETA: Some girls have big 12 week appts cause they do downs testing-AKA the ultrascreen. I don't do any testing like that, so my appts are always quick.

Re: 12 week appt - not too exciting
Just had mine and it was the same except no sono - heard the heartbeat (OMG OMG wonderful) and that was it - no blood, no internal and no sono. I had asked what would be done at this visit in advance so I knew this would be it - that is why I decided to get the ultra screen even though I wasn't going to - so at least I could see the baby!
In my dr.'s office this is pretty much it until 20 weeks. I don't know how i can wait to see the baby again!

I didn't hear the HBs until I was at least 20 weeks along (with twins we always got sonos). I don't think it's a big appt, just a milestone that's important to you. If you ever want a picture, just ask next time - the worst they could say is "no."

Re: 12 week appt - not too exciting
I remember coming back from my 12 week and feeling like "That's it?" Then I learned, from subsequent appts, that that's just what happens at regular check-ups! I now realize that an 'uneventful' appt means that everything is going well!
