LIF explained once that when the search engines are crawling the web the number goes up. It does not necessarily mean there are that many people actually on at that moment.

All guests are included in that statistic. If it were just people who were logged in, I'm sure that number would be dramatically different.
LIF/LIW has a really good search engine presence for their target audience.
There are also Google Image searches that get you here too.
