14 months & not STTN...help!
I haven't been on these boards in forever but figured I would post in hopes of getting some help. DS was sttn for a little while and now all of a sudden it has stopped and it seems nothing we do helps. He is getting molars so I know that is bothering him but even giving him motrin before bed is not helping. He seems to be waking at 12:40am every night! UGH, what's worse is that he doesn't go right back to sleep with rocking or in our bed. He is so wiggly & squirmy and I swear if I put him on the floor to play he would! ***...anyone else go through this? It's been like this for at least the last week or so and momma needs to get a full night's sleep. Please help with any suggestions!

Re: 14 months & not STTN...help!
that was us.
at 14 mos I finally night weaned.
he would get up at 2 AM after that just to yell at me. Zero interest in going back to bed.
He had broke our crib and jumped out at 12 mos, so at this point he was in his big boy bed, fenced in his room.
At 20 months...no joke, I moved his mattress onto my floor, said good night and I swear we have slept through the night ever since.
He sleeps in his own room now, but for some reason him being in my room changed everything. I don't recommend it, but after getting up for 14 mos, I would try anything. I was into routine and keeping him in his room. AT 20 months, dr told us keep him in our room to check his night breathing(asthma)...bam. slept.
good luck! I know its hell.

Re: 14 months & not STTN...help!
I am sorry you are dealing with this!
I will tell you that when DS was 14 months, he started waking up in the middle of the night and we would have to let him fall asleep on us to get him back to bed. It all started because he was teething. After about a week or 2 of us spending hours at night trying to get him back in his crib, we went back to CIO. (he got used to falling asleep in our shoulder again)
We had originally done CIO with him when he was 7 months old and needed to bring it out again. I will admit that it was rough because he threw up and learned that if he cried until he threw up we would save him. I talked to my ped who said if he isn't sick, hungry, in pain, dirty... there is no reason he can't fall back asleep on his own. So we let him throw up one night, cleaned him up and his crib, put him back and he cried for about 10 minutes before he fell asleep and we haven't had a problem since. He learned fast and he's been a great sleeper since then which is 10 months now!
Now the throwing up was extreme, but I wanted to share our experience. It worked for us. I hope DS starts sleeping for you soon no matter how you go about it!
