I am all for large families and i really shoudn't care that they keep popping out more...but for some reason it bothers me and I don't quite know why. Maybe b/c it's a tv show now, and I also wonder if the human body is meant to go through that much pregnancy...whatever...
OH and I get mad that they named the one poor girl Jinger. I still pronounce it like "finger". LOL.

If she breastfeeds, its amazing she is getting PG again so fast!

Honestly they live very simply...and they were debt free before they got the TV show.
They home school the kids and when my sister was home schooling hers she attended a few GTG that they were at..
They name all the kids with "J" names...Im always thinking that they should name the last one Fred..(but I dont know if they will ever have a last one)..Funny thing is that the 17th child was named Jennifer..you you're doing "J" names and it took you that long to get to Jennifer???
She's 40ish now...

I have to agree with Hbugal they are debt free & not living on welfare. I give them credit. Also can't believe it took them that long to come up with Jennifer. LOL) All the kids seem to be very happy. I went on their web-site. You have to see their house.

I applaud them for living debt free and a simple lifestyle... that's a life lesson for their children that so many don't get, however, I can't help but think that something weird is going on.
I can't explain it in a post. I have a relative who has 8 children and I can draw some parallels to both situations.
BTW: I'd like to interview all 17 of their children 20 years from now... I think at least one of them is going to have some serious things to say
I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop in this family...

They were on TLC or Discovery once. It was like "A day in the life of..." sort of thing. I was amazed and bothered all at the same time.

The only thing that bothers me about having that many kids.. is the fact that we are running out of natural resources.
Its their own business and can have as many kids as they want but just makes me think imagine everyone having 17 children.. The world is over populated as it is.

I don't know, to each their own and God bless them, but personally, I don't think anyone needs this many kids. It always bothers me when I hear of huge families like this or people who have 50 pets. I just don't think anyone can provide the resources and attention needed to really care for this many humans or animals and some neglect must go on. I also wonder what void the parents (or in the case of pets, the pet owner) are trying to fill?

IIRC it took years to build and they did it themselves. I believe the Discovery Channel supplied the furnishings though.

to each their own. They seem like a really great bunch.
I bet anyone of those guys is going to make a great husband one day. They live for family and work ethic.
I am one of 7, my dad is one of 10, mom is one of 7, aunts and uncles who are of 12 and 14.
Its a different life and not for everyone, but more times then not, the kids are happy and helpful.

Your telling me 17 kids is not being a bit over the top? Their are soo many children out there with no homes, why not adopt if you want to extend your family that large. I think natural resources is a good reason. What would we do with out them, living certainly wouldnt be an option.
