Our first Anniversary was 5/28/07...we moved into our new home 5/21/07. Needless to say no other gifts for us.
His boss gave us a trip to the Cayman's in June for Christmas. I guess this was a gift. If we didn't by the house we would have gone on vacation.

I gave my DH an antique map of the town we were married in.
I think he gave me jewelry. I can't remember.

We didn't exchange gifts. We wanted to go away just the 2 of us so we did for a long weekend... that was much nicer than any gifts we would've gotten eachother and much more memorable.
When we told the ppl we were celebrating our 1 year anniversary they gave us their honeymoon suite for the night of our actual anniversary and then moved us down a floor but w/ the same view--- both rooms were amazing!!

We went to Paris for the week, so it was a gift to eachother. But he did get me a nice piece of jewelry and I got him a sampler of caviar (he loves the stuff!)

I gave him an engraved pocket watch and he gave me a crystal necklace. We also took a trip to Japan and had a nice dinner on the weekend of our anniversary.

We didnt get to celebrate 1st anniversary.. i was in hospital for renal colic (was 36 wks prego at time).. my wedding hall gives you a free dinner for your 1st, i had to cancel it. My DH gave me a card, but i never got him anything. Im hoping soon we can go celebrate, waiting for DD to be a little older before leaving her with someone for a few hours.
I know first anniversary is Paper.

we are going away for the weekend so that is our big present to each other.
DH bought me earrings and i just bought him a Montblanc pen. he's in sales and loves them. I plan to buy him paper to go with it b/c that's the traditional 1st ann. gift.

we were on vacation for a week & spent 4 days at the beach hous then 5 days in the Poconos. I got DH tix to a Yanks/Red Sox game that we went to on our way home from the Poconos. DH got me jewelry.

HA HA we are so broke!!! I got him a box of Jelly Rings (his fav) and he got me flowers. We had a "date" at the Nassau Colliseum Car Show. We had so much fun and just enjoyed a nice quiet day together. That was all we could afford, but it was wonderful.
Just focus on your relationship and each other. Everything else will fade with time.
My suggestions would be just spend time together doing something you love.
