1st appt. not sure it went well, confused?

i was excited at the doctors office. dh and i were even talking about baby names and how we would revel our news!

anyhow, the dr. did a cerival exam and noticed some spotting and thought it was a little more than normal.
and then he used a camera to look at the uterus and said that the sac was too small?
and he saw some bleeding?

they took some blood and they will contact me on tuesday with the results.
they need to check the proestrogen levels?

is this all a bad a sign?

Re: 1st appt. not sure it went well, confused?

Chat Icon it's a rollercoaster of emotions! it's still very early to tell! The doctor took blood to check your beta hCG (pregnancy hormone) level. They have to do this at least twice to see if it is doubling within 48 hours. They will probably check your progesterone too. Spotting can be common but bleeding with cramping isn't good. The ultrasound was done very early so try not to worry yourself too much. Also, how sure are you of the date of conception? If you aren't very certain then there can be a greater amount of variability in how far along you are. At this point in time, a few days makes a big difference!

Re: 1st appt. not sure it went well, confused?

what should spotting look like?

i went to the bathroom and wiped and i saw a faint blood streak on the paper.
its like when you are at the end of your period and or the very very beginning.that thin faint streak.

is should i be watching? or is this normal?

i didnt like that he saw bleeding inside...

try to stay positive. It could be nothing. Just sit tight and wait for the results. I would be bugging them non-stop starting Monday though.

ITA!!!
My doc also said some spotting is normal in the beginning...Did you have sex at all before the dr? My doc also said that the pap and his exam can cause a bit of spotting since the cervix is very sensitive now....

you know this goes to show you that i need to change doctors. i think he is thoro but when it comes to explaining things he goes fast.
im glad my dh was with me b/c i have a habit of forgetting bits of info when mass information is presented to me. im bad a paraphrasing..

dh was able to reiterate what the dr. said.

Re: 1st appt. not sure it went well, confused?

i would want to make sure the bloodwork included the beta hCG and then I would want the results by Monday. This way you can get back in for the repeat beta to look for doubling as close to 48-72 hours as possible.

Try not to worry too much as it's still so early!!! I know it's hard to wait..that's the worst part!

When I went for my first appt, I thought I was 6w3d and they couldn't detect a heartbeat...I had to go back in a week for another test and let me tell you...that was the LONGEST week of my life!!! But when we went back he found the heartbeat and all is well...

Good Luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon
