Re: 1st b-day ideas
we are doing a pool party (labor day weekend about 1 1/2 weeks after her birthday)
we are also doing a Dora theme, because she is obsessed with dora.
We will have about 60 people or so invited and at least 35 definitely there.
We are having it catered.

Re: 1st b-day ideas
We have gone back and forth too. We have decided, after much discussion, that we will be doing a restaurant party. Since we didn't have a religious party (no briss or baptism) DH felt really strong that we should have a big party. We'll probably be inviting about 75 or so. It will be a nice brunch with a monkey/safari theme. DS really isn't into anything specific and I didn't want to use a theme he may get into as he gets older.

Re: 1st b-day ideas
I can't even think yet! There are such cute "1st Birthday" pink sets, I just want to pick one of those!
I think we will do just something at the house. We have a huge family and close friends - so we can't even make it small if we tried!
I SOOO wish she was a summer birthday!

Re: 1st b-day ideas
Ours is this Sunday(PLEASE pray for no rain!!!!) We decided to di it big, since we are doing 2 for 1. Probably about 100 people will come (still have MANY that have not RSVP'd).
We are doing a Sesame Street theme, since it has to be gender neutral. We are having a petting zoo and pony.
I am having it catered - this is the first time catering a prty - just hope I ordered enough food.

Re: 1st b-day ideas
We did both small. 30-35 people at our house. Sarah's was pizza, my family is really laid back and was forgiving since I was 6 months preggo. Andy's was BBQ in our backyard a few weeks ago.

Re: 1st b-day ideas
Right now we're thinking big. We only had family for DD's christening. Many of our friends still have not met Lily since we live OOS. I want to have a big party back in NY. But we recently heard that we may be transferred again, so we may be moving back east around her Bday (November) so we'll see...

Re: 1st b-day ideas
I am thinking big, since we just did family for her Baptism - however, I had 95 people invited to our house this past weekend for our annual BBQ, so at this point planning another big party sounds extremely intimidating
For me it's pretty much all the way or nothing. Some ideas so far:
A fall theme at the Queens farm with hayrides and pumpkins, etc.
A "big kids" theme - since the only kids that would be invited are less than 1 1/2, I was thinking about doing something like a throwback party geared for the adults - giant twister, a candy bar, dessert table with twinkies, ding dongs, etc. a hula hoop contest, limbo contest, etc.
Or, we might just end up at a restaurant.
I haven't decided yet, but really need to get planning!

Re: 1st b-day ideas
We had a luau. Not sure if that would work in November though. It was about 40 people. For this birthday we're most likely doing a circus theme.
