1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
So here's my dilemma
I was thinking pony rides with face painting and baloon animals but that might be a little over the top for Colorado. I don't want to seem like I am trying to outdo anyone. First birthdays aren't a big deal here but to me and DH they are because that's what we're used to.
My other option is having the Music Together teacher come which is a bit more low key.
Here's the dilemma though. The pony rides and all will take up about 2-3 hours of the party ongoing. We're having a big back yard luau The Music Together is 1/2 hour, 45 minutes tops.

I am trying to hire my music together teacher. Most of the kids that are coming to the party have taken MT so I think they will really enjoy it.

Did she say how long she will be there? My teacher said she only does 1/2 hour for $125. 1/2 hour seems like so little.

Holy Lord! I was thinking of doing this, but 200 bucks is a little much...we are only going to have 8 kids there...

Well I just emailed the teacher to see if she could make it more like 45 minutes because 30 minutes seems like no time at all to me.

Re: 1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
My neice went to a 1st b-day party with pony rides. not one of the 1 year olds liked it. They were all so scared. If you plan on having a bunch of kids that young, I would skip the pony ride. They will love the music.

I have to agree with Shelly. I wouldn't want you to have 8 terrified little ones on your hands! I think 1/2 hour of music is perfect for their attention span time.

Re: 1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
IMO, the music is the way to go. My party is "scheduled" from 1-5 and I have entertainment coming for an hour, which is more than enough (I have about 20 kids from 1-5).

Just went to the birthday party of a 1 yr old last week. They had the music and the kids (infants to 6 years loved it).

Re: 1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
We are doing music for our entertainment. I think 1 year olds will enjoy it more than the pony rides....
I am using someone who I found on craigslist who happened to do my cousin's son's 1st Brithday too... She is $150 for 45 minutes but we love Music Together and if you take the classes the kids know all of the songs already and they enjoy it very much.

Re: 1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I was worried about the kids being scared of the ponies so hearing that it actually turned out that way makes me realize the music is the right choice. I'm in the process of working out the details.

Re: 1st Birthday "entertainment" dilemma
my son's borthday is next wee and we are doing a carnival theme, a petting zoo, pony, cotton candy, hot dog cart, ice cream bar, water slide, it is really not for yur daughter it is for the other kids (older kids in my situation), we have about 90-100 people so we need to keep those kids occupied!!!! The petting zoo is a cute option for babies. It is just visually stimulating so I know my son will love watching everything go on, but he LOVES animals so th epetting zoo is really for him since there are many baby animals as per the owner of the petting zoo.
