1st Birthday party dilemma..

So DS will be 1 at the end of January.....my family is all out of state and will not be able to come (we will probably have a small GTG the next time we are home instead).
DHs has a big family with quite a few kids who live on LI and we are about 1.5-2 hours away from them in NJ.....
My initial thought was to have the party at home because I don't really want to spend a ton of $$, but our house isn't that big and its a squeeze to have everyone here (but we did it for his Baptism and it wasn't the end of the world). Or I could have it at a place, but then I would spending more money and there is also a chance it could be bad weather and no one from LI could come.....
WWYD? I think I am also feeling a little overwhelmed as we are trying to get ready for the holidays and I am feeling stressed to get his party figured out!!

I would keep it low key at your house if that would be less stressful for you.

I would definitely have it at your house. Since you already managed with the baptism you know it can be done again.

I WISH I could actually fit more than 5 people in my apartment at a time for DD's birthday. January birthdays are tougher than I realized!

I think parties at home are more stressful. All the preparation, and cleanup.

Re: 1st Birthday party dilemma..

We had our son's 1st birthday at home and we tried to keep it real small. I saved a lot of money having it at home and we all had so much fun. I think you should do what feels comfortable. For me it was being at home. Hopefully you will have some people there to help you with things. Just keep it nice and simple. Chat Icon
